Santour / Santoor of India
The Santour is a struck (or hammered) string instrument of Persian origin, still very widely played today in India.
It consists of a trapezoidal hardwood body with a softer wood soundboard. Two small soundholes in rosette as well as a round opening in a splint allow a good diffusion of the sound.
