The Cavaquinho is a kind of small guitar with 4 metal strings, originally from Portugal. It is also found in the music of Brazil and Cape Verde.
Ancestor of the Ukulele, the Cavaquinho first arrived in Madeira in 1854 to become the Braguinha, then in Hawaii in 1879 where it gave birth to the Ukulele.
This model made in Portugal by luthier António Pinto Carvalho benefits from a beautiful traditional handcrafted instrument made from solid wood.
